Trials of Courage—a popular MMORPG with over two million people people playing on the United States server alone. At midnight, the very second it hits January first of the year 2015, the new expansion for the game is released. However, those with the expansion logging onto the server between midnight and one o'clock in the morning are asked if they'd prefer a world without the thing they loathe most in reality—and they're rewarded by being trapped within the video game. With roughly six thousand people from across the United States stuck with no way out, a young man by the name Toby Koyama—or Elithero, in-game—decides to take charge and find a way to get back to the real world.
