One

All my life I've learned.
Learned of love,
Money and power,
And the one thing I've always strived for,
Is hung so close in front,
Yet so far out of my reach.
And when I do grab for it,
It steals away into the night,
To hide in the deepest recces of my heart.
And when I am able to talk it back out again,
The sunlight burns me at first.
But in time it grows accustomed to the light, love.
Only one day,
The light is shut off,
And it steals away to hiding once more.
