Horizon

In time, perhaps your name will have no meaning,
As words with passing days become obscured,
And if your lies should ever reach my ears,
My eyes will stare ahead into the distance.

Beyond the sea that lies beneath the cliffs,
A new adventure calls, its music carries
Across the void between you and my future,
In tantalizing whispers of my dreams.

And though a lonely boat must cross the ocean,
Upon the distant shore, someone awaits me,
As once you waited on a shore behind me,
And thrust me then upon the jagged rocks.

Sometime, your voice will cease to make me shiver,
An icy wind that howls beyond the ocean,
The freezing rains are lost in summer's blossom,
As some new soul will warm my thawing heart.
