Boreas

I wonder what you fear,

O lonely one,

As all the gardens of the

World awake, and daylight

Comes from darkened ages.

I wonder what you dread,

As one whom you afflicted

Beckons you to join

In song, as all that darkness,

Ages long, retreats from wakening forests.

I wonder what you see

Amid the slow emerging

Of a land long-buried

Underneath the ruins of

The fading nighttime sky.

I wonder if you know

The name the north wind bears,

Still blowing through the hail

And freezing still a weakened soul

That trudges through the plains.

I wonder if you care

As one awakens in the darkness,

As a long-lost soul invites you

On to dance as glory beckons

In the distant glow of sunrise.
